 My Decoi had to be put down on Friday afternoon, 7/25, after only a short 2 week bout with throat cancer. How do dogs get cancer of the throat, it makes you really wonder what the heck is going on these days Decoi was 11 years old. On July 3rd I brought Decoi into the vet because he was vomiting and could not keep any food down .... and boy we all know how much he loved his food. He was my little roly-poly and it killed me to see that he spent the last few days of his life not being able to enjoy food that he loved so much. I got Decoi at Anti Cruelty when he was 11 months old. He had been abused by his previous owner and had a couple of broken ribs. He brought him to Anti Cruelty because he was too affectionate of a dog for him .... and that he was. He was the most affectionate dog around. All he wanted was to be touched by you. How anybody could abuse him was beyond me. But, believe me, he found a much better home with me that is for sure, I am glad that I adopted him and had him for the rest of his life. Decoi brought both joy and laughter into my life. He was a character. He was my little "Cookie Monster", every night at 9pm he got his cookies, and I really mean cookies, not dog treats. Believe me you did not rest until he got them. He would start from 8:30pm, sitting in front of you, bothering you and hitting you with his paw till you finally gave in and got up and gave them to him. He was something else. I swear he had a clock in his tummy. I miss him every night. Well, now he can eat all the cookies he wants to. Enjoy your cookies Deek .... and share them with your brother and sister ..... Beau and Sassie ..... I miss you all so much and I love you all dearly. |

Hello,
Sorry about the lose of your baby. We too lost our beloved greyhound at the age of 4 do to throat cancer. It also took it's toll on her in about 2 weeks time.
That was 7 years ago.
